A106/A53 Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil

Product Overview

Manufactured via hot rolling (for durability) and cold finishing (for precision), the coil adheres to international standards (ASTM A588, EN 10025-5, JIS G3114) and holds certifications for quality and sustainability. It is available in thicknesses (3mm–350mm), widths (1000mm–2000mm), and lengths (100mm–12000mm), with a rust-colored or custom surface finish. Ideal for marine, logistics, and architectural sectors, it delivers long-term reliability in harsh environments (e.g., saltwater, heavy loads, or outdoor exposure).

Key Features

Exceptional Toughness & Impact Resistance

Grades like NM400 and A36 offer high tensile strength (up to 700 MPa) and ductility, making them suitable for ship hulls or container floors that withstand repeated impact (e.g., loading/unloading cargo). The coil resists cracking in low temperatures (down to -40℃), critical for polar shipping routes.

Marine-Grade Corrosion Resistance

Corten A/B grades form a dense, adherent rust film when exposed to air or saltwater, preventing further corrosion. This film (rust-red in color) is 2–8 times more protective than ordinary carbon steel, reducing maintenance for ships and coastal containers.

Low-Carbon Green Production

Kangtao uses hydrogen metallurgy and energy-efficient furnaces to reduce carbon emissions by 18% compared to traditional steel production. The coil meets global sustainability standards (e.g., LEED for buildings), appealing to eco-conscious clients.

Multi-Standard Compatibility

It complies with ASTM (North America), EN (Europe), JIS (Asia), and BS (UK) standards, making it easy to integrate into global projects. For example, a container manufacturer can use the same coil for orders in the US (ASTM A36) and Europe (EN S275JR).

Scenario-Based Solutions

Shipping Container Manufacturing

Shipping containers face saltwater, extreme temperatures, and heavy cargo. This coil (Corten A grade) forms the container’s walls and floor, with its corrosion resistance extending service life to 15+ years (vs. 8 years for ordinary steel). The rust-colored finish eliminates the need for paint, reducing production costs by 10%. Example: A logistics company ordered 500 tons of this coil to build 200 containers, reporting zero rust-related damage after 3 years of transoceanic shipping.

Ship Deck & Hull Components

Ship decks require material that resists saltwater and impact. The NM400 grade coil is used for deck plates, with its high toughness absorbing the force of cargo containers. The coil’s cold-rolled precision ensures a smooth surface, reducing friction between cargo and deck.

Architectural Facades & Bridges

For iconic buildings or bridges, Corten B grade coil offers both durability and aesthetic appeal. Its rust-red finish creates a unique, natural look that ages gracefully—used in projects like the Sydney Opera House’s auxiliary structures. The coil’s flexibility allows it to be bent into curved facade panels, adding architectural flair without compromising strength.

Packing & Delivery

Packing Details

Given the coil’s large size and diverse application needs (marine, container, architectural), packing is tailored to prevent rust, deformation, and damage:

Standard coil packing: Each cold rolled carbon steel coil is wrapped in 3-layer protective material—inner layer (rust-proof kraft paper), middle layer (moisture-proof PE film), and outer layer (galvanized steel sheet) secured with circumferential steel strips. Wooden pallets with anti-slip pads are used for easy loading/unloading.

Marine/container-grade coils: Extra 0.5mm thick aluminum foil is added between layers to enhance saltwater resistance, and each coil is labeled with “Ocean Shipping” and “Keep Dry” markers.

Architectural cut coils: For custom-cut sheets (e.g., 2m×3m for facade panels), packed in interleaved kraft paper + foam boards, then placed in wooden crates to avoid edge damage.

Delivery Information

Lead time: 15–20 workdays for standard grades (A36/Q235BC); 25–35 workdays for high-strength grades (NM400/Corten B) or large-diameter coils (≥1200mm ID).

Transportation: Bulk coil orders (≥50 tons) are shipped via bulk carriers or container ships (from Shanghai/Tianjin Port) with competitive freight rates. For architectural cut sheets, we offer combined shipping with other building materials to reduce costs.

Value-added services: We provide customs clearance assistance for international orders, and can arrange on-site coil uncoiling services for container manufacturers or shipyards to save on-site labor time.

FAQ

Q1: What’s the difference between Corten A and Corten B for outdoor projects?

A: Corten A is ideal for containers, small bridges, or facades with low load requirements. Corten B has higher tensile strength (510–680 MPa) and is better for heavy-load structures like large bridges or ship hulls. Both offer the same corrosion resistance.

Q2: Can the coil be cut into custom shapes for architectural designs?

A: Yes. We provide cutting, bending, and stamping services to create custom components (e.g., curved facade panels or bridge railings). Our technical team works with architects to ensure precision—even for complex geometries.

Q3: Is a sample available before placing a bulk order?

A: Yes. We offer free samples (up to 2 meters) for quality testing, but the customer covers shipping costs. After placing a bulk order, we refund the shipping fee as a gesture of cooperation.
